THE TOOLS
WHAT I USE
This is what I use for my journaling, most of which relates to my study of Scripture and sermon preparation.

JOURNALS
Leuchtturm1917
A5, Soft Cover, Dot Grid
This is my primary journal.
Moleskine Cahier Journal
Soft Cover, Large (5" x 8.25")
My “beater journal” for sketching out ideas and experimenting with outlines and definitions.
Field Notes Memo Book
Dot-Graph, 48 pages (3.5" X 5.5")
Lochby Field Folio A5
Journal Case (6.7” x 10” x 1”)
This holds all three of my journals, writing instruments, ruler, and a few other things. I upgraded to this from the Diodrio (see Extras).
PENS AND PENCILS
UIXJODO Gel Pens
0.5mm
Looks good, feels good, writes good.
Pentel Twist Erase
0.5mm Mechanical Pencil (Cheap, big eraser)
This is my everyday/all day pencil.
Pentel Kerry 1971
0.5mm Mechanical Pencil
Classy, timeless looking mechanical pencil.
Pentel Ain, 0.5 Graphite Refills
This is the most important part for me–good “lead.” I like the softer grades as they write darker and thicker. B is a little harder than your standard pencil (HB). I use 2B and 3B.
EXTRAS
My favorite highlighters so far. For my sermon notes I use:
Blue (Thesis/Sermon Summary)
Vermilion (Main sections)
Gold (sub-subpoint/details)
Green (Scripture references)
Gray (misc.)
Excellent highlighters that don’t smear and have more muted colors.
Sometimes I need to draw a straight line.
